Aaaaand we're back...

I guess it's about time I updated this baby. It's been quite awhile since I communicated with anyone who actually checks the Balissa blog. So, if you're out there, prepare to be impressed. If I'm only writing to make myself feel good, that's cool too. I love you, self.

This first post, after a 365+ day hiatus from the blogging world, will be an update on 1 year of mawej, enjoy and draw your sword. (cue Inigo Montoya and the Six-fingered man fighting in the corridor)

This covers our first year of marriage in less than 500 words...

The Time of Our Lives

Alissa + Ben

“…he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow

Him because they know his voice.” John 10:4

Dear friends and family,

We have so much to update you on over this first year of marriage. So, read on…

After the whirlwind of planning our wedding, enjoying the day (winds, rains and trains included), and an amazing honeymoon in Mexico, we began our lives together in Atlanta. After a few months and some serious time in prayer, we decided to uproot and move to our nation’s capital, Washington DC. The planning, packing and driving were an adventure in themselves. Now we are living, working and playing in DC and loving it!

Over the past year we have had the privilege to travel a considerable amount. From an amazing honeymoon in the Mayan Riviera of Mexico, a trip to the country music mecca of Nashville, to weddings, babies and friends in Atlanta, to family and an amazing river boat tour in Chicago, to the beautiful Michigan lake coast line, to a sunny trip to Florida, , to Thanksgiving in Bowling Green, Ohio, an incredible trip to New York City during Christmas and finally, a fantastic ski trip in Colorado, we have been incredibly blessed to spend time in many places over the past year. If this year is any indication of our future, we will be world travelers!

With all of the change surrounding us during our first year of marriage, we have been blessed with new jobs. After moving to DC, Alissa found her place at Skanska USA Building as Business Development Manager for the Washington DC Metro area. She is thoroughly enjoying her new job and is doing extremely well. Ben has been blessed to achieve a new job with Vocus PR management software in the sales department. He very much enjoys the environment, people and daily challenges he faces. It has been a great time of transition!

Thank you for your support and love. As God carries us, we are increasingly aware of his love, grace and encouragement shown through you. Without your love, friendship and support, we would not be where we are today. By God’s grace and your support, we will continue on this path prepared for us.

We love you dearly!
